May 2016 Results
What do I have to say about May? Well, nothing too exciting.
I did some unplanned spending. Some of it I’m not proud of, but I also did some unplanned spending that I know went to a good cause.
I’m not one to advocate for “causes” most of the time. If I don’t money to charity or to someone in need, I don’t like to talk about it. I’m not talking about it today because I want recognition, but instead because I want to spread the word about this as much as possible.
Many of you know Kristi. Kristi was the staff writer here on my site and I’m praying she’ll be back someday because I miss her immensely. Kristi and her husband are expected a baby girl named Lucy to arrive later this year.
Unfortunately, Lucy will likely not make it to term due to a medical condition that is lethal. You can find out more exact details on their Go Fund Me page. This was my biggest unplanned expense in May, but I know it went to a great family to help them in their time of need. If you can, please consider donating to her family. I know it would mean the world to them to have some financial assistance with the medical bills for their unborn daughter, Kristi’s pregnancy, and the funeral they are already planning. If you can’t afford to donate, please consider sharing the campaign on your website or social media.
Anyway, back to business. Here is how things went down in May.
4/30/2016 – $142,128.67 all debt
$29,369.34 without mortgage
5/31/2016 – $141,586.31 all debt
$29,049.93 without mortgage
Difference – -$542.36 all debt
-$319.41 without mortgage
4/30/2016 – $1,464.74
5/31/2016 – $1,492.73
Difference – $27.99 Increase
My overspending wasn’t as bad a thought, but not included in my budget above is the bill I paid for my accountant (ouch!) and $100 I set aside in May for my trip next spring. I actually added that to my budget for June, but forgot to add it in for May.
I still had a debt decrease and a savings increase, so overall I’d say May turned out ok.
How was your May?
