How to Save Money When Shopping Online
As much as I love shopping in an actual store, between work and life, it can sometimes be difficult to carve out the time to do that.
Queue online shopping, it truly is a wonderful thing. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is, what it’s like outside, or more importantly, if you’re in your pajamas, you can literally shop anytime and anywhere.
Furthermore, depending on the store, sometimes the prices online are lower than they would be in store. Still, even if this is the case, you may not be saving as much as you could. Follow these four tips and learn how to save even more when shopping online.
Cash Back Sites
I’m sure you’ve sent in a rebate at least once in your life, and this is kind of like that, but even better. Cash back sites allow you to shop for exactly the item you want and in some of your favorite stores, but they give you a percentage of your money back just for ordering through their site. Sites like Dollar Dig can give you anywhere from 1-20 percent cash back, meaning you’ll not only get exactly what you want, but you’ll get money back while doing so!
Not only should you compare prices between in store and online, but you should also utilize price-comparison websites as well. Places like bizrate.com allow you to product-search the item you want. Then, they’ll bring up every place online they can find that specific product, so you can see its price point at various locations. It’s any easy way to find the best deal possible without scouring the Internet for hours on end.
If the website you’re shopping at allows you to use multiple coupons and promo codes, make sure you’re using them wisely. Say for instance, that you have a coupon for 30% discount and one for 15% discount, make sure you use your 30% off first, followed by your 15% coupon. I know it sounds simple, but by doing this you’ll save a lot more by receiving the higher discount off the full-priced item, than if you’d used them the other way around.
Sign Up for Emails
You may want to roll your eyes at this one and trust me, I know, our email inboxes already get bombarded by a variety of emails. However, if you direct these into a separate folder, you’ll be happy in the long run that you did. Not only do you usually receive a coupon just for signing up, but you’ll also receive a multitude of great coupons throughout the year. If you have a few stores that you love to shop at, you’ll be glad you signed up.
Online shopping is wonderful; the fact that you don’t have to deal with the crowds, alone, is enough to convince you. More importantly, by utilizing a few tricks, you can shop for less and receive significant savings.
