I picked a heck of a time to decide to quit my job and begin freelancing full-time. This month is going to be a doozy!

Luckily, I did get one last paycheck from my job on July 31 which gave me the money I’ll just for the first half of August. I also get paid from many of my clients on the last day of the month, or the first day of the next month, so that will be the majority of what I need to live on the second half of August.

I also have a few clients who pay twice monthly so the income I get from them on the 15th will put me over the required amount I need for this month’s budget. Right now I plan to hold on to the extra (but not in my checking account so I can’t spend it) so I can use it for the beginning of September.

My hope is that eventually I’ll continue to build up more and more “extra” each month so I can live on last month’s income.

Last month I changed how I budget (again) and made my plan a lot more simplified. I decided to stick with that more simplified plan for August too.

CategoryMonthly Total
City Bill$127.41
Gas Bill$15.99
Auto Insurance$123.46
Cash Spending$240.00
Weekend Travel$150.00
Annual Insurance Membership$50.00
Memorial for Friend's Death$40.00
FT Income$1,099.03
Business Income Required$1,620.00

I think this is one of my highest budgets ever and it’s my first month of being self-employed. (Yikes!)

At least there are a few things on here I can cut out if I find my month to be more than my money during the last few days.
